Supervisor of Elections Receives National Recognition

Stuart, FL- An award for outstanding professional practice in election administration was presented to Vicki Davis, Martin County Supervisor of Elections, and Kherri Anderson, Deputy of Elections Outreach, last week at the National Association of Election Officials – The Election Center of Houston, Texas.  The Democracy Award for Best Practice of 2011 was received for Martin County’s “Check Your Voter Status” campaign.

According to Dawn Williams, chair of the Election Center’s Professional Practices Committee “this recognition is an opportunity to publicly say well done and also provide a platform for election officials to share successful practices.”

The “Check Your Voter Status” campaign was one of six practices recognized in an awards ceremony during the Election Center’s national conference held in San Antonio, Texas. This campaign was designed to encourage Martin County voters to take a pro-active role in checking their voter status prior to Election Day.

“As Supervisor of Elections, I consider it my duty to provide the citizens of Martin County the necessary information to make their voting experience as smooth as possible.  Whether voting by mail, voting early, or voting on Election Day, it is important for voters to have their current information in our system,” said Davis. “It is an honor for the Martin County Elections Center to be recognized by the National Association of Election Officials – The Election Center and to receive this award for the Best Practice of 2011.”

The National Association of Election Officials – The Election Center is a national non-partisan non-profit organization of the nation’s voter registration and election administrators who are responsible for organizing and conducting the federal, state and local elections for the United States.
