BRUCE H. COLTON
State Attorney
19th Judicial Circuit

Bruce Colton received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University in 1969 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 1972.

Upon graduation from law school, he became an Assistant Public Defender in the 19th Judicial Circuit. In 1974, he became an Assistant State Attorney and was soon after designated as the Chief Assistant State Attorney. In 1985, he was named State Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit.

Mr. Colton is the President of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association, and serves on the Board of Directors of the 19th Judicial Circuit Domestic Violence Task Force, Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers, and C.O.R.E. He is a member of the Florida Medical Examiners Commission, National District Attorneys Association, the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation, Substance Abuse Council of Indian River County Advisory Board, The Florida Council on Crime & Delinquency, Florida Network of Victim Witness Services, Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, the National Criminal Justice Association, the Indian River Community College Legal Assistant Technology Advisory Committee, and Treasure Coast Chiefs of Police & Sheriffs Association.
